The "it" factor

The fun factor
One of our favourite part of Gut Hügle family adventure farm was the restaurant area. It is surrounded by things for kids to play with - tractors, bobby-cars, hammocks, bench swings, chair swing and (a little out of sight) sand box. We enjoyed being able to sit down and have a nice breakfast and dinner whilst our daughter could safely explore the area.
If the weather is not so great, there is also an indoor play area, which you can see from some tables in the restaurant. Our daughter had a blast climbing on the huge inflatable cow and building (and destroying) a fortress built out of giant blocks.
Across the road from the Gut Hügle, there is another outdoor play area with a small balancing bridge, a giant jumping pillow (another big hit for our 3.5 year-old), look-out point and a swing bench.
As you would expect from a farm accommodation, there are also animals around - goats, horses, cows, sheep and bunnies but they're not very prominent.
In a Gut Hügle forest nearby, at an extra charge, you can play disc golf. We just went for a walk to check it out and didn't manage to play as there was just too much to do in the area.
During the summer, at an extra charge you can also hit the Gut Hügle cherry orchard and pick your own cherries (or, like us, just buy some freshly picked cherries from the restaurant shop - delicious!) or explore the cornfield maze. The maze is nice but missing a "quest" to keep kids engaged (e.g. finding specific items), that you can often find in such places.
There is very nice and premium sauna and resting area for adults (no clothing).
If you want to introduce your kids to the world of pampering, you can also check out the family section next to it. This part is clothing mandatory and has a children sauna (40 degrees) as well as a kids' chill out space. This section also has a parents' sauna from which kids are visible most of the time. We were impressed with the luxury finish, which contrasted with the rustic feel of the rest of the amenities.
There is also a very small gym, with limited and quite dated equipment. It was the least impressive part about Gut Hügle and we're hoping they'll renovate it.
During our visit (July 2023) the Gut Hügle pool was still under construction. It is looking very promising and we are hoping to come back and check it out in the future.
If you want to further explore the area, you can rent e-bikes from reception.
There are also many attractions only a short car ride away from Gut Hügle - e.g. Ravensburger Spieleland, Ravensburger interactive games museum, Ravensburg town, hops farm.
The views factor
Gut Hügle family adventure farm is surrounded by nature - fields with cows, corn, apple & cherry orchards, hops and more, with hiking and walking paths in the area. We found the area well maintained, very green and relaxing. The grandma (and us) really like the whole region.
The comfort factor
The rooms are clean and of a good standard but not perfect. Ours had some holes in the mosquito nets as well as some marks on the floor and walls. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook. Make sure you bring everything with you (tea, coffee, etc) as there's nothing of the sort. Overall it fits well with the look and feel of the farm.
The food factor
The Gut Hügle restaurant offers good quality food. Breakfast buffet has a decent amount of options (eggs, bacon, cold cuts, fruits, musli, yoghurt, vegan options, home made bread, pancakes), albeit with only a somewhat limited selection of each.
Dinner is also a buffet plus you can also order home-made pizza with sourdough, which we enjoyed very much. The hit for the whole family was home-made ice cream.
The value factor
The prices in 2023 start from 76 CHF / night for 2 adults and a child and go up to almost 200 CHF - depending on the size of your apartment. Breakfast, dinner, sauna, cornfield maze, cherry picking and disc golf is paid extra.
